Sailor Tin Nyanko

Sailor Tin Nyanko is the fourth of the Animamates to appear in both the manga and the final season of Sailor Moon. She and her fellow Animamates have been tasked by Galaxia to collect "true starseeds" of senshi to enable Galaxia rule the universe. She takes a human identity, Suzu Nyanko, when stalking her chosen victims. Her student name, as does her senshi name, uses the colloquial Japanese term for "kitten" or "cat" rather than the proper term, "neko". As with Iron Mouse and her "chuu", the word "nyannyan" http://linear.mv.com/cgi-bin/j-e/dosearch?H=PS&L=J&WC=none&fg=red&S=26&L=J&T=nyannyan is onomatopoeia for a mew, rather than a proper noun. "Nyan" is turned into a feminine name with the "-ko" suffix. "Suzu" means both "tin" and "bell" http://linear.mv.com/cgi-bin/j-e/dosearch?H=PS&L=J&WC=none&fg=red&S=26&L=J&T=suzu, reminicent of the bells cats traditionally wear around their necks. She appeared in the Seramyu musicals Sailor Stars and Eien Densetsu but was cut from the second musical when it was revised. In the manga, Tin Nyanko appears in Act 45 at Juuban High School as a new transfer student from Libya. As did Leadcrow, Nyanko confronts people from her home planet, Mau -- in this case, Luna, Artemis, and Diana. Her "Galactica Puppet" attacks on them first transform them into their humanoid selves, then erase their crescent moon markings on their foreheads and turn them into ordinary and badly injured cats. Only in the manga is it explained that Tinnyanko won Galaxia's favour by stealing the starseed of her native planet's Senshi, Sailormau. The anime implies she may have been Sailormau herself, corrupted by Galaxia and enslaved by Galaxia's golden bracelets. ("Mau" is also a breed of cat, named after the ancient Egyptian (Khemetian) word for the species, as well as onomotapoeia for a cat's vocalisation http://www.cfainc.org/breeds/profiles/egyptian.html.) In both the manga and the anime, Tin Nyanko proves to be almost more interested in beating Lead Crow to their starseed goal than actually obtaining the starseeds. In fact, her interference leads to Lead Crow's death (and nearly Sailor Moon's). In the anime, Tin Nyanko made her appearance in Episode 188 as an exchange student to Usagi's high school, where she worked to undermine the senshis' relationships with the Starlights. During one of her battles with both the local senshi and the Starlights, one of her bracelets was knocked off, giving her a split good/bad personality until Galaxia punishes her to death by removing the remaining bracelet in Episode 195.
