Saci Perer

Saci Perer (pron. sassEE pereRAY) is a fantastic entity, very popular among Brazilian people. It is represented by an one-legged little black man that is always smoking a pipe and using a red cap, which gives him magic powers. In some regions he is considered an evil character; in others he appears as a cheerful and prankish guy, joking at animals and people, creating domestic difficulties or frightening night travellers by constantly and mysteriously whistling. The myth exists from late 13th century.
