S. T. JoshiSunand Tryambak Joshi (b. 22 June 1958 in Pune, India) is an Indian-American literary scholar, and a leading figure in the study of H. P. Lovecraft and other authors. He has written and edited works about Ambrose Bierce, H. L. Mencken, and Lord Dunsany, and has written also on both atheism and race relations. He is notable for his emphases upon readability and the dominant worldviews of the authors in question; his The Weird Tale looks precisely at the acknowledged masters of horror and fantasy, and discusses their respective worldviews in depth and with authority. At the time of writing, Joshi is working towards the publication of the collected work of Clark Ashton Smith and George Sterling, Lovecrafts Collected Essays. Joshi considers that his most noteworthy achievement thus far has been the corrected texts of Lovecrafts fiction and other works. It can be argued, however, that the breadth and diversity of his interests, and the overall body of his critical and editorial work is his true accomplishment. Bibliography H. P.
