Ruthven Barracks

Ruthven Barracks are the smallest but best preserved of the 4 barracks built in 1717 after the 1715 Jacobite rising, set on an old castle mound. It has 2 large three-storey blocks occupying 2 sides of the enclosure each with 2 rooms a floor. The barracks and enclosing walls were loopholed for musketry, and bastion towers were built at opposite corners (the other pair weren't built due to lack of funds). Open any reasonable time.
