Ruffian

Ruffian is a term for a boisterous, cruel, brutal fellow.
Ruffian was a famous thoroughbred filly racehorse.
In J. R. R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings, the word was used to describe the Men known as "Sharkey’s Men", who oppressed the Hobbits of the Shire for their leader Saruman.
Ruffian also refers to a chess engine. See Ruffian (chess).
