Rook Playing CardsRook playing cards were introduced in 1906 by Parker Brothers to provide an alternative to standard playing cards for members of certain fundamentalist Protestant groups that forbade their use. They were originally designed to play ROOK, but many other games have since been designed to be played with the cards. By removing the 14s, the cards can be used to play games normally played with standard cards. The basic deck consists of 56 cards in four suits, or colours: black, red, yellow, and green. Each suit has 14 cards. Additionally, a Rook Bird card is included. The Rook Bird card features a picture of a rook and is generally used as a joker.
