Roman Catholic Bishop Of Reno

The Diocese of Reno was established on March 27, 1931 by Pope Pius XI and it was renamed as the Diocese of Reno-Las Vegas by Pope Paul VI, October 13, 1976. On March 21, 1995 Pope John Paul II changed it back to the Diocese of Reno. As of 2004, the current Bishop of Reno is the Most Reverend Phillip F. Straling, and the bishop's throne is St. Thomas Aquinas Cathedral. The diocese's metropolitan bishop is the Archbishop of San Francisco.
