, he scored notable successes against the German pilotless
V-1 flying bomb
. With the end of hostilities he became a test pilot, performing the initial test flying of many notable aircraft, including:
English Electric Canberra
English Electric Lightning
as well as the later-cancelled
BAC TSR.2
