Robert Scott (Politician)

Robert Scott is a politician in Manitoba, Canada. He has campaigned for federal office on four occasions -- three times for the Christian Heritage Party, and once as an Independent (when the CHP was deregistered). In 1973, Scott received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Manitoba. He received a Bachelor of Education degree the following year, and worked as a teacher and social counsellor with the Department of Indian Affairs. He subsequently left teaching to work as a locomotive engineer. Scott is President of the Manitoba branch of the Christian Heritage Party Council. He was active for a number of years in that Roman Catholic church, and now attends the Shalom Family Worship Centre, an evangelical Protestant organization. Scott's electoral strategy has always involved the promotion of "God, life and family". Scott's first three bids for public office occurred in the riding of Winnipeg-Transcona. In 1993, he received 362 votes, against 16074 for winning candidate Bill Blaikie of the New Democratic Party. He increased his tally to 423 in 1997, against Blaikie's 16640. In 2000 (running as an Independent), he received 146 votes, against 15680 for Blaikie. In the 2004 election, Scott ran in the redistributed riding of Elmwood-Transcona. He received 386 votes, against 15221 for Blaikie. Scott is also a retired member of the Royal Canadian Navy Reserves, with a rank of Chief Petty Officer 2nd Class. Scott, Robert Scott, Robert
