Robert MorganRobert Morgan (July 31 1918 - May 15 2004) was United States Army colonel and pilot, from Asheville, North Carolina, was the commander of the Memphis Belle B-17, which flew 25 combat missions over Germany, Belgium, Holland, and France, between 7 November 1942, and 17 May 1943, during World War II, and was the first heavy bomber in the European Theater to last long enough to allow its crew to be sent home. In those missions, which were all during the daylight hours, the Memphis Belle flew 148 hours, and dropped over 60 tons of bombs, and every major part of the plane was replaced at least once.
