to 1111. He became known as
Robert of Jerusalem
after his exploits in the
First Crusade
. He was the eldest son of
Robert I of Flanders
and Gertrude of Holland. Robert died near
Meaux
from a wound he received while aiding his overlord, King
Louis VI of France
, against
Theobald of Blois
. He married Clementia of Burgundy, and was succeeded by their son
Baldwin VII of Flanders
