river teiglin

In the fiction of J. R. R. Tolkien, the River Teiglin was a river of Middle-earth in the First Age, a major tributary of Sirion in Beleriand. It rose in the southern reaches of the Ered Wethrin, ran generally southeast, receiving the waters of Glithui and Malduin, then passed along the southern margin of the Forest of Brethil, where it ran through a gorge named Cabed-en-Aras and then received the Celebros. The Teiglin then ran eastward into Sirion at the borders of Doriath. The old road from the Pass of Sirion met the river at the Crossings of Teiglin, between Malduin and Celebros. The river's banks near Celebros was the scene of the encounter between Trin Turambar and the dragon Glaurung.
