1. An African breed of dog popular worldwide. A dog bred by Afrikaner (Boer) farmers from Great Danes and Mastiffs. The Rhodesian breed is the strongest, able to endure extremes of temperature. The Rhodesian Ridgeback is nicknamed Africa's lion-hound.
