Rideau Club

The Rideau Club a noted social club located in Ottawa, Canada. Located near the Parliament Buildings it is the meeting place of Canada's political elite. Originally located across the street from the Parliament Buildings the club burned down in October of 1979 and is now located on the top floor of a downtown office tower. The club saw great controversy in the early 1970s over its all male policy. As a place where many political decisions were made the banning of female members was an important issue, in 1973 the club allowed female members and restrictions on female guests.
