replay (dict)

Replay

The term replay can mean two different things:
  • In sport, the term replay means a second game between two teams after the first tie finishes in a draw. This method of deciding a result is common in many knockout competitions in soccer, notably in the FA Cup.

  • In motion pictures and television, a replay (more commonly called an action replay or instant replay) is a showing again of part of a film. It is widely used in context of filmed sporting activities and often in slow motion to show the action in detail. In serious filmmaking this technique also helps to show the same scene from a different point of view or perspective.
