ReloadingReloading is the process in which used firearm brass (i.e., the brass part of a cartridge) is returned to shootable condition by inserting a new primer, new gunpowder, and a new lead slug. (Sometimes slugs made of other substances are used to make the bullets less likely to richochet in an urban setting, to avoid environmental pollution with lead, etc.) Handloading differs in that only new, unused brass is used.
