Relient K- MmhmmOne of the world's fastest growing music industries, Christian Rock continues to improve. With new up and coming bands such as Falling Up, Spoken, Thousand Foot Krutch and many others, this genre has finally found its niche. Relient K is among the growing trend of bands in this relatively new industry. They have a unique sound that makes it hard to compare them to other bands (perhaps Sum 41?) not to mention their very unique songs. On the Anatomy of the Tongue in Cheek album you can find songs about the Sadie Hawkins Dance or Breakfast at Timpanis. Fans love the band for their humor in what they do, including a Twinkie man in their shows. While never lacking luster for a good laugh, the band also has grown through their 5 albums. With the release of Mmhmm on November 2nd, Relient K caught fans off guard with much more serious and heartfelt tracks like Be my Escape and I So Hate Consequences. Although the band exposed a much more direct approach to emotions, 51,000 fans still went out to buy the CD within the first week of release. It has been reviewed all over as an amazing work of depth and growth for Relient K. They have not, however lost all humor, with a few tracks like My Girl's Ex-Boyfriend and The Only Thing Worse than Beating a Dead Horse Is Betting on One. This album is much more God-focused and the music has evolved into a much more Dave Matthews band feel; losing a lot of the pop punk feel. Fans have come to realize that change can be good, and most will agree that this is the case with Mmhmm.
