Red GreensRed Greens are Greens whose economic views tend not to reflect green economics but rather those of welfare economics or Marxist economics. They tend to be more markedly opposed to market methods and to the mechanics of neoclassical economics than other Greens, and tend to more strongly support social justice as the primary goal of policy, seeing this as key to other goals. The term watermelon is sometimes applied to professed Greens who seem to put social goals higher than ecological ones: it implies someone who is "green on the outside, but red on the inside." Some Red Greens consider this a compliment, others an insult (like most other terms applied to a faction by outsiders). A Red Green is not usually considered or called a "fundi" - more often a "commie". Red Greens dominate the Green Parties notably in Saskatchewan and the United States. They tend to oppose the eco-capitalist trend in green politics but tend to be more accepting of violation of nonviolence strictures, especially in strike actions.
