Red Gazelle

The Red Gazelle (Gazella rufina) is an extinct species of gazelle, which lived in northern Nigeria. It probably did not inhabit deserts, but probably lived in the better watered mountain areas of North Africa. The last record dated from before 1894. It is known from three specimens, which were purchased in markets in Algiers and Oran, northern Algeria, in the late nineteenth century. They are held in museums in Paris in London.
