Raul CastellsRaul Castells (born c 1950) is an Argentina revolutionary leader. He is one of Argentina's most known public figures. Castells has been associated with mafia activities in Argentina, such as casino extortion and others. Castells is the leader of an organization named the "Moviviento Independiente de Jubilados y Desocupados" ("MIJD"), or "Independent Movement for the Retired and Unemployed". Castells moved in 1984 to Santa Fe, where he would spend the next twenty years. He and Argentine President Nstor Kirchner were bitter rivals; Castells was detained a number of times during Kirshner's presidency. Castells has plenty of sympathizers in Argentina, but he also has a large group of people who disagree with his views. In 2004, Castells and three others who were accused of extortion were brought up in front of a jury and went to trail on the charges aforementioned. Castells was declared innocent in November, however, and he decided to return to Buenos Aires for the first time in twenty years. Opinion among Buenos Aires residents about his return was split: while many received him at Ezeiza International Airport, there were many others who protested his presence in the capital city.
