Rape PornographyRape pornography is a genre of pornography involving the depiction of rape. It is illegal in many jurisdictions. For example, in Australia it is rated "Refused Classification" (RC). Despite this, it is widely available on the Internet. Feminists and social conservatives argue it encourages men to commit rape, denigrates and devalues women. Some libertarians, however, have argued that rape fantasy is a sadomasochistic fantasy which can be enjoyed from either a passive or active perspective, by either men or women, and does not necessarily lead to rapes being committed. Methods of Production Rape pornography can be produced either by: - actors, pretending to be raped or raping -- e.g. an actress pretends to not consent to sexual activity with one or more actors, but in reality has chosen to participate in this in exchange for money
- real, actual rapes, recorded by the perpetrators.
Most likely, the majority of the material on the Internet belongs to the former category, since in most cases criminals would not tend to make evidence of their crimes widely available. However, it cannot be excluded that some material is of the later category, since it is impossible to tell from images or videos alone whether the lack of consent is pretended or real. Furthermore, the existence of child pornography indicates that sex criminals will in fact distribute evidence which could be used against them.
