Ralphy Rodriguez

Ralphy Rodriguez (born approx. 1974) is a singer and former member of Menudo. He replaced Charlie Masso. Rodriguez had an important part in one of the scandals that threatened to make the group disappear. He joined Menudo in 1987, at a time that the group's worldwide fame was still strong, although it had begun to wane. He was popular among Menudo fans, and was a member of a Menudo line-up that included Ricky Martin, Raymond Acevedo, Sergio Gonzalez, Ruben Gomez and Robby Rosa. He sang the songs "Cuando Seas Grande" and "Y Te Vere (A Las Tres)" featured on the Spanish album Somos Los Hijos del Rock. Shortly after Ralphy left the group, he and his father made some declarations to the press, accusing Edgardo Diaz of many law violations, which the Rodriguezes alleged were committed against members of Menudo. This turned into a large international scandal as it was widely publicized by Latin American newspapers and magazines, and, combined with the arrests of Sergio and Ruben in Miami after being charged with drug possession, it shook the group's stability. However, after being confronted with Diaz on Cristina Saralegui's tv show, the Rodriguezes stopped claiming that Diaz had been involved in criminal activities affecting members of Menudo. Rodriguez became a newborn Christian, and has recently released a gospel CD.
