Ralph Herseth

Ralph Herseth (July 2, 1909July 24, 1969) was the Democratic Governor of the U.S. state of South Dakota from 1959 to 1961. Herseth was born in Houghton, South Dakota. He was married to Lorna Herseth, later to become the state's Secretary of State. His son Lars Herseth was State Attorney General, and his granddaughter Stephanie Herseth was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2004 to fill the seat opened by the resignation of Bill Janklow.
