Raj Joshi

Raj Joshi is a politician in Manitoba, Canada. In the federal election of 2004, he was a candidate for the Conservative Party of Canada in the riding of Winnipeg South Centre. Joshi was born in Winnipeg. He has a Bachelor of Engineering degree from McGill University in Montreal, a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Oxford University and a further Master's Degree in Development Studies from Melbourne University. He was for several years the owner of Excalibur Home Improvements, a construction company that he started at age fifteen. After graduating, he joined the firm of A.T. Kearney, an international consulting firm that specializes in "emerging economies"; more recently, he has been involved with development and fundraising work in the education sector. Joshi has also worked as a lecturer at the European School of Economics in London. Joshi was a member of the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada during his time as an undergraduate student, and was an organizer for federalist forces during the 1995 Quebec referendum. He is a fiscal conservative, and has expressed some leanings toward social conservatism as well. In the 2004 election, Joshi received 10516 votes (about 27% of the total cast), against 18133 for the winner, incumbent Liberal candidate Anita Neville.
