RainnThe Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN) in the United States is a toll-free, confidential and anonymous provider of counseling to victims of rape and sexual assault. The phone number is 1.800.656.HOPE. RAINN was founded in 1994 by Scott Berkowitz, the organization's president as of 2003. RAINN has attracted the attention of many celebrities, notably singer Tori Amos, who contributed a portion of the initial funding. She has remained their most avid spokesperson and a great deal of the attention brought to the organization comes from her fanbase. As of 2001 much of the funding to RAINN comes from the "Happy Birthday, Tori" parties; a series of fundraising events held throughout the world on (or around) the date of Amos' birthday.
