Pumpkin Seed Oil

Pumpkin seed oil (also „pumpkinseed oil“, „pumpkinseedoil“, „kernl oil“, „krbiskernl“ or „pumpkinseed oil“ called) is a culinary specialty of Styria, Austria and is made of roasted seeds of pumpkins. The viscous oil is dark green to dark brown. Used together with yoghurt the color turns to bright green. Pumpkinseed oil has a nutty taste and is very healthy because of its polyunsaturated fatty acids. Pumpkin seed oil is made of the skinless seeds of a special type of the pumpkin, the "Styrian Oil Pumpkin" (lat. Cucurbita pepo var. styriaca, also known as var. oleifera). The oil ist an important export commodity of Styria and is also distributed worldwide by some online shops i.e. http://www.pumpkinseedoil.cc.
