PulttiboisPulttibois (corrupted version of Bolt Boys) was a popular Finnish sketch-show that premiered on MTV3 in 1989 and starred a two-man cast of comic-actors Pirkka-Pekka Petelius and Aake Kalliala who had become recognised for their work in Finnish sketc-shows on the YLE during the 1980s. The show was a compilation of absurd comedy, often scorned by critics but loved by the audiences. The mystical aura of the show has lead it to have a cult-following. Three seasons were made between 1989 and 1991 after which the show was followed up by the less successful Manitbois which saw the return of many of the characters from Pulttibois, save for the most popular ones such as the bizarre and easily startled Apuvatyyppi (HELP!-guy a.k.a. James Potkukelkka performed by Petelius) which made the yell APUVA (corrupted version of apua meaning help) famous. Pulttibois featured evolved versions of older characters featured in the YLE-shows such as the drunk and jolly Laplanders and the over-emotional gentlemen but emphasized on new and fresh characters. Imitations of celebreties were not uncommon but have never been considered as the trade-mark of the show. Since the end of Manitbois Petelius and Kalliala have moved on to more serious drama and movies, though Petelius still stars in humourous adverts and sitcoms from time to time. Kalliala's last known comedy-performance was in the movie Kummelit: Kultakuume made by the Porkkana Ryhm production-team, founders of the Kummelit comedy-group. In recent years Pulttibois has returned in DVD-format and reruns have been seen on MTV3 and SubTV
