Province Of New Mexico, Mexico

Nuevo Mxico (or, alternatively, Santa Fe de Nuevo Mxico) was a province of New Spain and, after independence, a federally administered territory of Mexico. It was centered on the Rio Grande valley and its capital was Santa Fe. Most of the population of Nuevo Mxico lived in what is now the U.S. state of New Mexico but its borders extended much further into what are now the states of Texas, Colorado, Arizona, and Utah.
