Project Babylon

Project Babylon was a project commissioned by the Iraqi president Saddam Hussein during the Iran-Iraq War to build a supergun large enough to shoot projectiles into orbit. Gerald Bull supplied the designs for the gun, and nearly all of the required metal tubing was brought in from the United Kingdom, but the project failed when United Kingdom customs officers confiscated the last few pieces and Bull was assassinated. The parts confiscated by H.M. Customs at Teesport Docks were disguised as "petrochemical pipes."
