Professor Felina Ivy

Professor Felina Ivy is a fictional human character appearing in the Pokmon Anime. In Japanese, her name is Uchikido-Hakase. She is a Pokmon researcher and the resident Pokmon Professor of the island province of the Orange Archipelago, south of the region of Kanto. Like her colleagues Professor Oak, Professor Elm and Professor Birch, she is responsible for getting new Pokmon Trainers started by giving them their first Pokmon, some Pok Balls and a Pokdex. She also has a large laboratory complex in Valencia Island from where she conducts her research and takes care after the extra Pokmon of Orange Archipelago trainers. Professor Ivy looks young, in her thirties. She has dark long hair and wears a white laboratory coat over a rather revealing dress. Professor Ivy is first heard of in the second season of the Pokmon Anime. Just after Ash Ketchum has competed in the Pokmon League, Professor Oak asks him to travel to the Orange Archipelago region and retrieve a strange Pokball from local Pokmon expert Professor Ivy. Ash and his friends Misty and Brock make their way to Valencia Island and meet the Professor and her triplet assistants. The Pokball that Professor Ivy has discovered is dubbed the GS Ball and it is indeed unusual both in appearance and properties (see Pok Ball for more information). It serves as a plot device that will eventually lead Ash to a journey to the region of Johto, so that it can be delivered to Kurt, the world's Pokball expert. While Ash and his friends are getting ready to leave Valencia Island to participate in the Orange Archpelago Pokmon League, Brock announces that he has decided to stay with Professor Ivy for a while. He claims that both her house and laboratory are in poor condition and that he could help fix them as well as study Pokmon Breeding. It is probable that Brock, who is notorious in the anime for falling in love with pretty women almost in every episode, also decided to stay because of Professor Ivy's good looks. Ash and Misty soon found a replacement of sorts for Brocka Pokmon Watcher called Tracey Sketchit. Upon returning to Pallet Town to deliver the GS Ball to Professor Oak, Ash, Misty and Tracey found that Brock had returned to Professor Oak's laboratory before them. Ash's mother and the Professor explained that Brock had arrived in Pallet completely exhausted some time ago and refused to explain anything about what had happened to him. He also reacted intensely to Professor Ivy's name; his face took an agonised expression and he would huddle, muttering: "Don't mention that name!" As Tracey decided to stay as Professor Oak's assistant, Brock joined Ash and Misty to their journey in Johto. No explanation has been given for what happened during Brocks stay at Professor Ivy in the anime yet, but the events appear to have a rather sinister tone about them. Some fans have even go so far to suggest that Brock was the victim of sexual harassment by Professor Ivy, something which is supposedly backed up by her nameIvy may be a reference to poison ivy. Others claim that Brock's love of Professor Ivy was unrequited. Besides this appearance, Professor Ivy can also be seen in the second Pokmon film, called The Power of One. When someone sets out to catch the legendary bird Pokmon Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres, which reside in the Orange Archipelago, the balance of nature is severely upset resulting in extreme weather conditions. A concerned Professor Oak converses with Professor Ivy on the subject and they later appear on a television show to explain the phenomenon to viewers. Since the Orange Archipelago is not featured in the Pokmon video games, Professor Ivy has not yet appeared there or indeed in any other aspect of the Pokmon merchandise. She has also not appeared again in the anim. Felina Ivy, Professor
