He finds a female astronaut also stranded because her planet was similarly destroyed. Together, they decide to start a new life on this planet she calls Earth. Trivia - Dialogue in this episode establishes a distance of about 4.3 light years between Cook and Blane. Accordingly -assuming the special theory of relativity is true- there should be a 4.3 year-long pause between each of their transmissions to each other.
