Pre-adamiteA Pre-Adamite is a term for any member of any race supposedly preceding the creation of Adam. Melsius believed them to have been something intermediate between birds and fishes. The term also applies to any structure supposedly built by such a race, as well as anyone who believes in the concept. Ideas of a Pre-Adamite Earth first emerged in the early 19th century, and refer to passages in Genesis which suggest that prior to Adam and Eve an entire Pre-Adamic world existed, complete with plants, animals, and possibly even pre-Adamic races of people. Cain's wife is said to be a pre-adamite. Scientific arguments There are no scientific arguments which prove directly that a Preadamite race coexisted with the descendants of Adam. The existence of Preadamites depends on a new scientific premise, which is at best only an assumption. This is, that the races sprang from different origins. Therefore we would have a Chinese Adam, a European Adam, an American Adam and so forth. During the period after the Arab invasion of Egypt and the enlightenment of modern Egyptology, many Egyptians actually attributed the building of their own pyramids and ancient temples to pre-Adamite races.
