Praze-an-beeble

Praze-An-Beeble (Cornish: Pras an Bibell), sometimes shortened to Praze, is a village in central Cornwall, in the south-west of Great Britain.

Location

Praze's location is best described simply as being between (though not halfway between) the nearby towns of Camborne (2.5 miles) and Helston (7 miles).

Current status

There has been a slight drop in activities in the village over the last 10 years: several businesses and shops have closed. However, as of September 2004, a good number of facilities (for a village of its size in the region) remain, including a filling station/general store, St Aubyn's Arms public house, Post Office, farmer's suppliers, village surgery, and an auto repair shop. The local school is located just outside the village to the east, although it is associated by name with neighbouring village Crowan. Every June locals and visitors enjoy the Praze Fair, which involves a parade and a local marching band, and is preceded by a week-long visit from a touring funfair. Also in the summer is the annual Farmer's Ball, when the village's youth congregate in a marquee on the football field to drink and dance.
