Geography to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 93.1 km² (35.9 mi²). 83.7 km² (32.3 mi²) of it is land and 9.4 km² (3.6 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 10.10% water. Demographics As of the census2 of 2000, there are 972 people, 392 households, and 286 families residing in the town. The population density is 11.6/km² (30.1/mi²). There are 436 housing units at an average density of 5.2/km² (13.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 97.12% White, 0.21% African American, 0.21% Native American, 0.10% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 1.34% from other races, and 1.03% from two or more races. 2.06% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 392 households out of which 32.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.0% are married couples living together, 7.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 26.8% are non-families. 23.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.48 and the average family size is 2.91.
