potty (dict)

Potty

In American English, potty is another word for toilet. The word potty is generally used by and for young children, and is often considered cute and euphemistic by adults. In many parts of the United States, potty training is a more common phrase than toilet training, which is understandable considering that it is the young children who are being trained to use the toilet. Toilet remains a more "mature" word than potty; older children tend to switch from potty to toilet, just as they switch from wee wee to pee or urine, pee pee to penis (or some other body parts slang term), and so on.
