Post-secondary education
is a form of
secondary education
that is taken after first attending a secondary school, such as a
high school
. The purpose of a post-secondary education can be to receive
vocational education and training
or to prepare for a
tertiary education
. Post-secondary education in itself is not a form of either tertiary or
higher education
. Examples of institutions that provide post-secondary education are
community colleges
in the
United States
, the
TAFEs
in
Australia
and the
IEKs
in
Greece
. The term can also be used to
tertiary
and
quaternary education
and associated institutions, especially in
Canada
.
