Polycletus (Sculptor)

Polycletus (fl. c. 232 BC) was widely considered the greatest Greek sculptor of his time, even greater than Phidias. He lived and worked around Sicyon. One of his sculptures, of a bodyguard to the king of Persia, was so perfect that it was referred to as the Rule. He also designed buildings. (See Pausanius 2 & 6, Quintilian 12)
