Pokmon Firered And LeafgreenPokmon FireRed and Pokmon LeafGreen are games in the world famous Pokmon video game series. They were released on the Game Boy Advance system. Pokmon FireRed and Pokmon LeafGreen are remakes of the original Pokmon video games released in Japan, Red and Green. As of September 11, 2004, the games have been released in Japan and North America. All kinds of information about the games are currently being uncovered. The North American release date was September 9, 2004. The European release was October 1, 2004. Additionally, Pokmon Center New York had a special pre-release event on August 28, 2004, where people who had pre-ordered could receive their game before everybody else. The games feature the original 150 Pokmon that was featured in the original Game Boy games and more. Also, the games are compatible with the GameCube game Pokmon Colosseum and the Game Boy Advance games Pokmon Ruby and Sapphire, as well as Pokmon Box and Pokmon Emerald, though communication with games other than FR/LG must be unlocked by completing a sidequest. Its compatibility with these games has lead its graphics to be very similar (though not identical) to the ones in Pokmon Ruby and Sapphire. Pokmon Water Blue was a rumored name for the North American and European releases of Pokmon LeafGreen. However, it was still called LeafGreen in North America and Europe. It was also suggested that the North American and European name of Pokmon LeafGreen could have been Pokmon Ocean Blue or Pokmon Aqua Blue. These speculations are also false. It is also rumored that the alleged game could be a third version to Pokmon FireRed and Pokmon LeafGreen, as Emerald is to Ruby/Sapphire. New features After the games are released there is a period of discovery during which players discover what new features are hidden in the game. Some of the new features in these editions include: - They are remakes of the original Japanese Pokmon games, Pokmon Red and Green (Red and Blue outside of Japan).
- Gender selection has been added like in the previous Crystal, Ruby, and Sapphire games.
- They include new items such as the VS Seeker, which is what the trainers have on their bag straps in the picture.
- They feature the original 150 Pokmon, most of which were not found in the Game Boy Advance games Pokmon Ruby and Sapphire.
- Also featured are brand new islands called the Sevii Islands, which are initially unlocked by doing certain things within the games.
- On these new islands, Pokmon that can't be found in Pokmon Ruby and Sapphire or within the normal run of the game are available. This includes many of the Pokmon introduced in Pokmon Silver and Gold. Also a breeding center is located on one of the islands, allowing trainers to breed without trading to Ruby and Sapphire.
- Thanks to the Sevii Islands, there are a large number of legendary, rare, and unique Pokmon that can be found in this game. Pokmon that are included are Mewtwo and the legendary birds Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres, who were in the original versions of Red and Blue; Ho-oh, Lugia, and the legendary beasts, Raikou, Entei, and Suicune, who were from the Gold/Silver/Crystal games originally; and last but not least, Deoxys, who has an exclusive form with high offensive power when used in FireRed, and an exclusive form with high defensive power when used in LeafGreen. To access Deoxys though you will need an Aurora Ticket, item obtainable only from upcoming Nintendo events. Also available at select events is the item that allows to go to the island that has Lugia and Ho-oh.
- Later after you do some events after defeating the Elite 4 you will receive the National Pokdex, by making sure you visited the Sevii Islands with Bill and have at least 60 Pokmon. Professor Oak will then update your Pokdex into the National Pokdex. Until you receive it you won't be able to see or use Pokmon that weren't originally introduced in Pokmon Red and Blue, so all you can use are the original 150 Pokmon. - After you get the National Pokdex, and you help a man named Celio gather two items in the Sevii Islands called Ruby and Sapphire. Then you will receive the Network Machine in the Pokmon Center that will allow you to trade from Pokmon Ruby, Sapphire, and Colosseum, access the Unknown Dungeon, and then the Elite Four will be stronger than before.
- Once you gain the Network Machine and trade a pokmon to Pokmon Ruby or Sapphire it will update their Pokdex to National Pokdex and then it will be able to record data on Pokmon that can only be caught in FireRed, LeafGreen, or Colosseum. It is noted though that the National Pokdex in Ruby and Sapphire is different than the one in FireRed and LeafGreen.
- Mystery Events has been added to this game, so you can obtain special items such as the Aurora Ticket through Nintendo promotions like in Pokmon Ruby and Sapphire. This also lets you change the types of Pokmon that appear in Altering Cave.
