Piotr Skarga

Piotr Skarga (1536-1612) was a theologist, writer and royal priest of Zygmunt III Waza in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. He was one of the leading figures of Polish counter-reformation. He is famous for his works about the need to reform the Commonwealth and critisism of szlachta shortcomings. He also supported the monarch attempt to gain more power at the expense of Sejm, magnates and szlachta.
