Pictor

Pictor, being Latin for easel, is one of the minor southern (declination -50 to -60) constellations. It contains the star β Pictoris that is surrounded by a dust disk.

History

Since it was invented by Nicolas Louis de Lacaille in the 17th Century, to fill space not visible to the greeks, it has no pre 18th century mythology surrounding it.
