Petrus FilipssonPetrus Filipsson (Latin Petrus Philippi) was Archbishop of Uppsala, Sweden 1332-1341. He came from a smaller town in Uppland, as son of the knight Filip Finnvedson, who was one of the more important men in Uppland. Petrus had a short clerical period until he was elected Archbishop. Following the election, he travelled to Avignon, where the Pope John XXII was currently residing, to get ordained. In 1336 he crowned the king Magnus II of Sweden in the capital Stockholm. It is also known that he had a tense relationship to the Franciscan order. On behalf of the Pope, the Archbishop Paul of Nidaros, Norway, was to make a judgement on the matter. It lead to a settlement between the two parts in 1339. In 1341 Petrus died and was buried in Sigtuna's Dominican church, today called Mariakyrkan. See also References
