Petit Le Mans

Petit Le Mans is a sports car endurance race held anually at Road Atlanta in Georgia, using the rules established by the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO) for the 24 hours of Le Mans. The race was first run in on October 10, 1998, and in 1999 became one of the original events of the American Le Mans Series. Teams of two or three drivers operate each car. The race is won by the first team to complete 1000 miles or whichever team is ahead after 10 hours if no car has completed 1000 miles. In addition to the overall race, teams compete for class victories in up to five different classes of cars. The race was founded by Dr. Don Panoz, the owner of the Panoz Motor Sports Group, which also ownes the American Le Mans Series, Road Atlanta, Sebring International Raceway, and Mosport International Raceway.
