Pentyl pentanoate is an ester used in dilute quantities to replicate the scent or flavour of apple, and sometimes pineapple. It is commonly referred to as pentyl valerate (using classical nomenclature instead of IUPAC naming). The chemical formula of pentyl pentanoate is C10H20O2.
