Pennsbury High SchoolPennsbury High School is a public high school located in Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania. The student population of the school is divided between two buildings, the East and West campuses. Every year the school graduates about 800 students. Of those graduating, 58.5% will continue their education at a 4 year college, 31% at a 2 year college, and 3% in the military. Pennsbury's dropout rate is 0.5%. In 2002, one of Pennsbury's traditions caught the attention of Sports Illustrated writer Michael Bamburger. The school holds its senior prom at the school building, and students, parents, and faculty spend months preparing decorations for the event. The students arrive to small bleachers full of local families who gather to watch the parade of inventive vehicles and their dressed-up occupants. Ambulances, hearses, trolleys, classic cars, Zamboni Machines, and shopping carts are employed by students who want to arrive at the prom in style. After writing an article for the magazine about the 2002 prom, Bamburger went on to write a book, , which chronicles the senior year of a group of Pennsbury students. One of these students spent his senior year trying to invite John Mayer to perform at the senior prom. On prom night, April 16, 2004, the singer performed a 3 song set for the ecstatic students.
