General information
The Pegasus Dwarf is a
galaxy
with mainly metal poor stellar populations. It is located at
right ascension
23h28m36.25s and
declination
+14d44m34.5s in the
equatorial coordinate system
(
epoch
J2000.0). Pegasus Dwarf Spheroidal was discovered in the 1950s. In 1975 Tully & Fischer determined that it was part of the
Local Group
. The metallicity and the related distance estimate has been subject to discussions in the scientific literature, with varying results.
