Paveway Iv

The Raytheon Paveway IV is a new-generation laser-guided bomb for use by military aircraft. It is the latest iteration of Raytheon's popular Paveway series. The weapon is a guidance kit added to a standard Mk 82 general-purpose bomb, consisting of stabilizing fins, a laser-guidance seeker, and a GPS antenna. It can be directed either as a "semi-precision" attack using GPS and INS, or as a precision attack with semi-active laser homing. The Paveway IV is scheduled to enter service with the British Royal Air Force in 2006. It is as yet unclear whether it will be used by United States forces, which currently seem committed to the development of the small-diameter bomb program.
