Paula

Paula (Japanese:ポーラ) is a fictional character in the role playing game EarthBound for the Super Nintendo video game system, and is the only female party member in it. Paula is a PSI master and compensates for her lack of strength and HP with her psychic abilites, her very high PP level, and having the highest speed of the four main characters. Paula comes from Twoson, and joins Ness after he saves her from the Happy Happy Cult. Two of Paula's PSI attacks, PSI Thunder and PSI Fire (called PK Thunder and PK Fire in the Japanese version, sparking much confusion), are used by Ness in the Super Smash Bros. game series; however, in EarthBound Ness is not able to use these attacks. The Japanese names of the PSI attacks were used in the English version of Super Smash Bros. series. The trophy of Paula suggests she might have taught him PK Fire and PK Thunder, but this did not happen in EarthBound. There is a trophy of Paula in the Nintendo GameCube game Super Smash Bros. Melee.
Paula is also a character in the children's television show Sesamstraat.
The sound chip in the original Amiga computer is also called Paula.
