Paul ScallyPaul Scally became owner of Gillingham F.C. in 1995. His tenure has witnessed the most successful period in the club`s, admittedly modest, history. Two promotions, two Wembley play-off finals and four Cup victories over top division opponents have seen the once struggling club elevated to new heights. At the same time, the club`s once crumbling Priestfield Stadium has been radically redevoloped, with three new permanent stands and one temporary one transforming it into an all-seater arena. Scally`s vision has also provided excellent facilities, including a banqueting suite, which produce ancillary income for the club. Despite this, he is actively seeking to relocate the club to a new all-seater area, possibly outside the Medway Towns. The other notable thing that has characterised his time at the club is Scally`s ability to get into arguments with those he perceives are unhelpful. He is very much a `you are either with me or against me` person. Victims of his anger include the Kent Messenger Group newspapers, who had, until this season, been banned from the ground for four years, and Alan Liptrott, ex-Chairman of the Gills Independent Supporters Club, who remains banned following a dispute over the ownership of a domain name and various other issues.
