pasigraphy (dict)

Pasigraphy

Pasigraphy is a writing system where ideas or concepts are put down rather than a representation of the sound of a language. The emphasis is on having a systematic, philosophical system. Pasi in Greek means "to all". Historically there have been several attempts to come up with this. Leibniz had been considering this idea and Alexander von Humboldt as well. Cases like Blissymbols, Real Character and Mediaglyphs are inspired by the ideographic element of the writing system of the Chinese language.
