Parti Republicain/republican Party (Canada)The Parti republicain/Republican Party was a Quebec-based Canadian political party that nominated a total of four candidates in federal elections and by-elections between 1964 and 1971. None was elected. In the 10 February 1964 by-election in Saint-Denis riding, Paul Ferron ran for the party and collected 183 votes (1.25 of the popular vote). In the 1965 Canadian election, Lucien Rivard ran for the party in Papineau riding, winning 297 votes (1.1% of those cast). The party nominated two candidates in by-elections held on 31 may 1971. In Chambly riding, Claude Longtin won 396 votes, (1.6% of the total), and in Trois-Rivires, Joseph thibodeau won 170 votes (0.6%). In the 1968 Canadian election, Robert Hein ran as a Republican candidate in Vancouver Quadra, collecting 175 votes (0.5%). It is unlikely that he was connected with the Quebec-based party, however.
